Why Preserve the California Coastline?
The beaches chosen for the Care For Our Coast campaign represent iconic Southern California beaches.
Funds raised through the Care For Our Coast campaign will go towards beach cleanup, recycling and dune restoration. The dune restoration consists of the removal of exotic species and revegetation of native species. Certain fast growing invasive plants prevent the native habitat from regenerating, creating an unfavorable eco-cycle.
Each of the beaches will receive a Big Belly Solar trash compactor and recycling bin.
In addition, beaches will benefit from an educational program to ensure safety at the beaches during peak usage, with extra safety training provided to seasonal lifeguards.
